The Locally Grown project
Connecting Kids with Local Food
We are excited to launch a year long planning and visioning process that will result in a sustainable strategy for Farm to School in Hillsborough County.
We will use the Appreciative Inquiry process to answer the question:
What will it look like when we have an industry leading Farm to School Program?
We will convene the project planning team and lay the groundwork for the process. We will also form a student advisory committee to include the voices of our students.
During this phase we will conduct key informant interviews, research best practices and visit school districts and farms with established F2S programs.
Together we will co-create the vision of Farm to School in Hillsborough County including local purchases, food based education and hands on learning experiences.
Finally, we will identify key partners and seek input from the broader community to design a plan that includes strategies for funding, implementation & evaluation.
Ways to Engage
Let’s Grow Together
Sustaining a Farm to School Program requires an investment of time and resources. Your support will ensure that the future of school meals in Hillsborough County will include quality local food as well as education and action opportunities for students to learn about food and farming.
Our newsletter will keep you informed on all things:
